Does Microsoft Want to Take Over Nokia’s Smartphone Division?

A well–known Russian blogger announced that Microsoft would start negotiations the following week to take over Nokia’s phone division, mainly the smartphone manufacturing division.
Eldar Murtazin, Chief Editor for Mobile Review has not provided any more details but he expects the dealt could be closed at the end of this year, in the best case scenario. Blogger’s declarations do hold some truth, given his previous statements. Last December when nobody believed that Nokia could give up using the Symbian OS, Eldar made an incredible statement
saying that Microsoft and Nokia were discussing about using Windows Phone as OS in Nokia smartphones. His statements were officially confirmed in February.

The Russian has recently managed to predict that Nokia will give up Ovi and replace it with the company’s name. Eldar has also received Nokia phones prototypes long before the company actually introduced them to the public.
Microsoft has recently proven that they can be very stubborn when it comes to acquisitions. The software giant has paid $ 8, 5 billion for Skype. Microsoft had previously offered $ 44 billion for Yahoo! which was a money amount bigger than the allegedly $ 32 billion necessary for Nokia’s market capitalization.
Endgaget remarks that Nokia was once manufacturing rubber boots and tires so the company is able to reinvent itself. Taking into account the fact that a former Microsoft manager is currently running Nokia, this could well be a good moment for a change.
Mark Squires, communication director for Nokia UK has refused to make any comments. „ We usually do not comment rumors, but we should admit that Eldar’s rumors are becoming more and more inaccurate”, Squire said.
Brand Republic reported Monday that Nokia would replace the name Ovi Store with Nokia Services as the company prepared to give up Symbian and develop their alliance with Microsoft.
