Tegan & Sara blast Odd Future; Cali Swag District’s M-Bone passes away; Jiffy Lube Live cuts down on tailgaiting

Tegan and Sara speak out against Odd Future. (Kyle Gustafson/FTWP)
- Canadian pop duo Tegan & Sara have issued perhaps the most forceful and notable rebuke off rap crew Odd Future and its leader,Tyler, the Creator, for misogynist and homophobic lyrics. “When will misogynistic and homophobic ranting and raving result in meaningful repercussions in the entertainment industry?” the statement asks? Tyler responded, well, exactly how you’d expect him to respond.
(Language NSFW) In other Odd Future news, the great Kalefa Sanneh of The New Yorker tracks down “lost” member Earl Sweatshirt and produces the best piece yet (subscription required) on the band that has been the subject of approximately a million words over the past year.
M-Bone, a member of “Teach Me How to Dougie” stars Cali Swag District died Sunday night, reports TMZ.
- NBC Washington reports that Jiffy Lube Live will be seriously cracking down on tailgating before shows at the venue this summer. This has always been a sort-of official rule that was casually enforced, but now there is a “no tolerance” policy. Next weekend’s sold-out WMZQFest will serve as quite a test of the new policy.
